To lead a team of technical innovation experts to define the future national police IT strategy. The National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) works for the police service and directly supports forces to deliver improvements today, and into the future.
We are a single national support agency led by the police, for the police, created through the work of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), Association of Police Authorities (APA) and the Home Office. The NPIA provides leadership and expertise to the police service in areas as diverse as information and intelligence sharing, core police processes, managing change and recruiting, developing and deploying people.
The CTO Unit plays a vital role in new technology development which will contribute towards making our police service one of the best equipped and technologically advanced in the world. In a world where criminals are using ever more advanced methods to carry out their activities, it has never been more important for the police to have up to date technology at their disposal.
Following an extensive review of the unit, and in response to the challenges highlighted in the Government’s Green Paper and Sir Ronnie Flanagan’s review of Police IT, a restructuring exercise is underway to ensure the unit remains equipped to meet the future challenges of what is a significant step change in the delivery of information systems across the police service.
The CTO’s senior leadership team is pivotal in driving forward the Information Systems Improvement Strategy (ISIS). We seek to compliment the existing management team with a ‘top team’ of IT practitioners who are able to identify, harness, deliver and champion leading-edge technology that is fit for purpose and able to meet the organisation’s unique demands.
For an informal and confidential discussion, please call either Jenny Barone on 020 7932 4275 or Rupert Gibb on 020 7932 4217.
Closing date for applications: Friday 4th December 2009 at 12.00pm.
The NPIA is committed to valuing diversity and promoting equality for all.
