BTP recognises that Technology is an integral part of its role to deliver exceptional services and outcomes. As Head of Information Services and Business Support for BTP, your role will be challenging and varied, with overall responsibility for the convergence of IT, Telephony and mobile data for the Authority.

As BTP’S most senior IT professional, you will take the lead for the ongoing development and implementation of the Information Management, Information Communication Technology and Business strategy for the Authority and its partner organisations, creating the vision for the future. You will also manage a multi-disciplinary team of ICT professionals.

You will ensure that BTP has the necessary Information Technology capacity and capabilities to meet its strategic goals and that policies, systems and processes continue to be fit for purpose and compliant across our network of 130 locations in the UK. The geographical breadth and focus of BTP presents some unique challenges around the maintenance of robust and effective communications systems and this role will assume overall responsibility for this area. Another critical aspect of your role will be to create and deliver a unified Information Systems strategy, which interlinks with other Police Authorities and to lead on some significant and business critical projects and programmes, including a major, new national CCTV programme.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Constable, this is a high profile role which will touch every aspect of the organisation and which will directly affect the way in which BTP delivers its services to its customers. You will forge and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, collaborating with individuals from different disciplines and other Police Authorities, working jointly to find effective business solutions. As a real team player, you will work across boundaries and find pragmatic ways to bring about change, innovation and improvement, whilst focussing on the long term. This role will bring the genuine chance to drive change and influence at the highest levels in the organisation and this is an outstanding opportunity to directly impact on the success and quality of the organisation’s services in the future.

We are therefore looking for a bright and enthusiastic ICT professional, with a "can-do" attitude and relevant experience of leading strategy, and driving change, performance improvement and innovation within a complex, multi-site organisation. You will have a track record in leading and managing diverse teams of ICT professionals and a strong background in project/programme management.

The ability to lead and manage broad stakeholders and work in partnership with other organisations in the public and private sector is fundamental to the role and the appointed candidate must be able to persuade and influence at the highest levels, both internally and externally.

As an ambassador for Technology for the Authority, you will actively promote its role in driving change, improvement, innovation and Quality and firmly believe in its role in delivering business solutions. You will be commercially astute, politically sensitive, highly diplomatic and will be a confident networker, with strong interpersonal skills. You must be able to demonstrate an in depth knowledge of ICT best practice in all major areas.

Above all, you will have with the ability to understand the importance of your contribution to the bigger picture and you will need to demonstrate, through sound, credible and relevant achievements and ideas, that you are capable of fulfilling this challenging role – and that you share our ambition to keep Technology at the heart of what we do.
